Yuzu Ponzu

A refreshing and tangy citrus sauce that’s incredibly easy to make and perfect for drizzling over sashimi or using as a salad dressing.

Ingredients
  

For the Yuzu Ponzu
  • 1/2 cup yuzu juice The star of the show!
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce Adds savory depth.
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar Balances the flavors.
  • 1 tbsp mirin Adds a little sweetness.
  • 1 tbsp bonito flakes Optional for umami kick.
  • 1 tbsp sliced green onions For garnish.

  • Fine Mesh Sieve

Method
 

  1. Step 1: In a mixing bowl, combine the yuzu juice, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and mirin. Whisk it together until well blended.
  2. Step 2: If you’re using bonito flakes, add them now and stir to combine.
  3. Step 3: Let the mixture sit for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld beautifully.
  4. Step 4: If you added bonito flakes, strain the ponzu through a fine mesh sieve to remove them.
  5. Step 5: Transfer the ponzu to a serving container and garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

If you can't find yuzu juice, substitute with lemon and lime juice. Store in the fridge for up to one week.
