Ingredients

For the Vegetable Filling
  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage Adds a nice crunch and sweetness.
  • 1 cup shredded carrots Brings color and a hint of earthiness.
  • 1 cup chopped mushrooms Offers a savory umami flavor.
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions Gives a fresh, zesty kick.
  • 2 cloves garlic minced, essential for that aromatic base.
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger A warm, spicy note that complements the veggies.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce For seasoning and depth of flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Adds a nutty richness.
  • 1 package gyoza wrappers The perfect envelope for your filling.
  • oil for frying To achieve that lovely golden crispiness.

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Non-Stick Skillet

Method

  1. Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped cabbage, shredded carrots, chopped mushrooms, chopped green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  2. Step 2: Take a gyoza wrapper and place about 1 tablespoon of the vegetable filling in the center.
  3. Step 3: Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water. Fold the wrapper in half over the filling to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
  4. Step 4: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a small amount of oil.
  5. Step 5: Place the gyoza in the skillet, flat side down, and cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.
  6. Step 6: Add a splash of water to the skillet and immediately cover with a lid. Allow the gyoza to steam for about 5 minutes or until the water has evaporated.
  7. Step 7: Remove the lid and cook for an additional minute to crisp up the bottoms again.
  8. Step 8: Serve hot with soy sauce or your preferred dipping sauce. Enjoy!
