Ingredients

Japanese Short Grain Rice
  • 2 cups Japanese short grain rice known for its sticky texture
  • 2.5 cups water essential for cooking the rice

Equipment

  • Rice Cooker
  • Pot

Method

  1. Step 1: Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. Step 2: Drain the rinsed rice and transfer it to a rice cooker or a pot.
  3. Step 3: Add 2 1/2 cups of water to the rice.
  4. Step 4: If using a rice cooker, close the lid and start the cooking process. If using a pot, bring the water to a boil over medium heat.
  5. Step 5: Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a lid, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes, or until the water is absorbed.
  6. Step 6: Remove the pot from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes.
  7. Step 7: Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Leftover rice can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat gently to keep it moist.
