Method
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures your cookies bake evenly.
- Step 2: In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Set this aside for later.
- Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth and fluffy. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes.
- Step 4: Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Step 5: Gradually blend in the flour mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- Step 6: Fold in the chocolate chips, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Step 7: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving enough space between each for the cookies to spread.
- Step 8: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
- Step 9: Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Store your cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. If you want to keep them longer, you can freeze the cookie dough before baking.
