Ingredients

For the Cookies
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour This is the base of your cookies, giving them that lovely chewy texture.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda This helps your cookies rise and gives them a light texture.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature - Butter adds richness and flavor.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar This sweetens the cookies and helps them spread beautifully as they bake.
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar For that deep, caramel flavor that makes chocolate chip cookies irresistible.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract A must for flavor; it really rounds out the sweetness.
  • 2 large eggs They bind everything together and add moisture.
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips The star of the show! Feel free to mix in some nuts if you like.

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking Sheets
  • Parchment Paper
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Step 2: In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Set this aside for now.
  3. Step 3: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract together until creamy.
  4. Step 4: Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Step 5: Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix!
  6. Step 6: Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula or wooden spoon.
  7. Step 7: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Step 8: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
  9. Step 9: Allow them to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

To keep your cookies fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature. They should last about a week—if they last that long! For longer storage, you can freeze them.
