- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, combine the vegetable oil, egg yolks, water, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Step 4: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until the batter is smooth.
- Step 5: In another bowl, beat the egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
- Step 6: Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter in three additions, being careful not to deflate the mixture.
- Step 7: Pour the batter into an ungreased chiffon cake pan.
- Step 8: Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Step 9: Remove the cake from the oven and invert the pan to cool completely.
- Step 10: Once cooled, carefully remove the cake from the pan and serve as desired.
Notes
Once your chiffon cake is completely cooled, you can store it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you want to keep it longer, you can freeze slices wrapped in plastic wrap for up to 3 months.
