Ingredients

For the Tofu Pouch
  • 1 block firm tofu sliced into thin slabs
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • soy sauce optional, for seasoning

Equipment

  • Frying Pan
  • Slotted Spoon
  • Kitchen Towel or Paper Towels

Method

  1. Step 1: Start by slicing your block of firm tofu into thin slabs, about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Step 2: Place the tofu slabs on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to absorb excess moisture. Let them sit for about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Step 3: Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat, ensuring there's enough oil to partially submerge the tofu slabs.
  4. Step 4: Carefully add the tofu slabs to the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Step 5: Use a slotted spoon to remove the tofu pouches from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. Step 6: Drizzle some soy sauce over the hot tofu pouches before serving, if desired. Enjoy warm!

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for about 3 days. Reheat in a hot pan for a couple of minutes.
